We built FamilyRapport because we believe family connection shouldn't require surveillance. This policy explains honestly what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
FamilyRapport is a companionship and wellbeing observation service for aging adults. We are not a medical provider, psychological service, or licensed healthcare organization. Our service connects adult children ("Members") with trained Heritage Curators who correspond with their aging parents ("Participants").
For questions about this policy: hello@familyrapport.com
From Members (adult children who subscribe):
From Participants (your aging parent):
Important: Participants (your parent) provide informed consent before any correspondence begins. They are told they are corresponding with a Heritage Curator — a professional pen pal — and that observations from these letters may be shared with a family member. We never begin service without this consent.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train AI models for third parties.
In certain U.S. states, individuals who have assumed responsibility for the care or welfare of an elderly person may be classified as "mandatory reporters." If our curators become aware of potential elder abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation through correspondence, we may be legally required to report this to Adult Protective Services (APS).
We will make reasonable efforts to notify the subscribing Member before any such report is made, except where doing so would endanger the Participant or conflict with legal requirements.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of any sale of your data (we do not sell data). To exercise these rights, email hello@familyrapport.com.
Written correspondence between Participants and Heritage Curators is reviewed by our team for quality assurance and to prepare monthly Insight Reports. Participants are informed of this as part of the onboarding process before correspondence begins.
We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Access to correspondence and reports is restricted to authorized curators and staff. We conduct regular security reviews and limit data access on a need-to-know basis.
We may update this policy as our service evolves. We will notify active Members by email of any material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance.
